1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO is an excellent robot vacuum with a number of smart features that make it more easy to maintain than many competing models. The automatic bin emptying feature is among the most convenient features we've seen on the form of a robot, and it works well with hard floors as well as carpets. The app walks you through the entire process. It is also easy to use and set up. Another notable feature is the ability to return to the spot where it began in our tests. It did this for 77 minutes on one cleaning, before running out of battery.
The i3+ EVO is different from the other robot vacuums that we tested comes with a self-emptying bin that automatically dumps debris in an external dirt compartment located on its charging base once it's full. This reduces hands-on maintenance and keeps the i3+ EVO from overfilling, but it still requires manually cleaned after each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO dust bin can hold 2.4L that will last for four to five cleaning sessions.
Similar to the i7, this model is equipped with state-of-the-art floor sensors to create maps and navigate in neat rows. However the i3+ EVO only stores a single map while the i7 can store multiple. The i7 can also utilize its map to create no-go zones and virtual barriers, however the i3+ EVO cannot.
While the i3+ EVO is more effective in removing dirt and debris from surfaces than the other robovacs we looked at but it's not the best for cleaning corners and edges. It's also less gentle on furniture, despite being relatively quiet. It was a bit rough on furniture as it pushed chairs away. It also caused collisions with the sides of the test bed.
2. Black & Decker Pro Q5
If you're looking to increase your collection of robot vacuums, or just starting out, the Q5 Pro is a great option. It offers a sleek design, powerful navigation, and efficient automation at a low price. It's the most affordable model for the money you can get at the moment and even beats the Roborock models that are much more expensive in many ways.
This robot does a fantastic job cleaning bare floors, and its avoidance technology helps it steer clear of furniture legs and other obstacles. It also excels on carpets and scores the highest score on our tests on navigation. The only issue is that it's more noisy than other models and doesn't perform as well in our satisfaction of the owner and predicted reliability assessments.
The Q5 Pro comes with a large dust container of 770ml, which means that you won't need to empty it as frequently as other 2-in-1 robots. The Q5 Pro's 240-minute running time is also impressive when contrasted with other 2-in-1 robots that we tested. When the battery is running low, it returns automatically to its dock, where it recharges before resuming cleaning from where it was when it stopped.
